For 12 straight years Robin Roberts was given the ball on opening day for the Phillies. He had a durable career with a not so great Phillies team of the era and managed to rack up 286 wins in the 19 years he played. He once gave up a lead off home run, then retired the next 27 in a row! A fun painting to do of a guy that wasn't afraid to throw strikes, he never walked more than 77 in any season. He did something that is incomprehensible in today's game, he once pitched 28 complete games in a row, one of which was 17 innings!! Proud guy on my Wall of Fame and the only pitcher that beat the Braves everywhere they called home; Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta.
