How do you call a guy that made it to Cooperstown on his first ballot under-rated? I think most baseball fans would be surprised to learn just how exclusive a club Paul Molitor belongs to. Only five players in history have over 3,000 hits, a .300 career average, and 500 stolen bases. Of those five, only Molitor hit 200 home runs. He was certainly a well respected star in his playing days, but imagine how famous he would be if he had played in NY or LA or a major market instead of Milwaukee, Toronto, and Minnesota. Of all my 261 Hall of Fame paintings, this is one I plan to redo some day. He was under-rated as a player, and I think I under-impressed with my tribute to him.
