Like most things baseball, it can be argued whether Joe Tinker and Johnny Evers were the best double play duo of all time, I suspect they were not, but they were certainly the best of their day and broke the hearts of many New York Giant fans of the era. The most famous baseball poem of all time, "Baseball's Sad Lexicon" immortalized the pair along with fellow Hall of Famer Frank Chance and solidified their place in baseball history. This painting of them turning two is one of 261 I have done paying tribute to every member of Cooperstown and is one of only two that shows two players, the other being the Waner brothers. One of my favorites to be sure.
