Does George Kelly belong in the Hall of Fame? The BBWAA didn't think so and never gave him more than a paltry 1.9% of the vote in any of the seven years he was on the ballot. The Veterans Committee that voted him in was made up of 12 retired players, many of whom played with Kelly. Legendary baseball historian Bill James calls him "the worst player in the Hall of Fame". Despite all that, I loved how this tribute to the old time, good defensive first baseman turned out. I put a little smile on Kelly's face as if he maybe knows he got a break on that one!
