The Ultimate Competitor

He was on the mound for the best game I ever saw a pitcher play when he shut the Braves down for 10 innings in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series. Jack Morris had a way of rising in the big games and was one of the last "workhorses" the game has seen' throwing 175 complete games in his career. He was one of those very rare starters who actually got better the deeper a game went. In the end he would finish with 254 wins and over 2,400 strikeouts. He was the ultimate competitor; giving up the most hits, most earned runs, and most home runs of any pitcher in the 1980s, but he also had the most wins as well.
