Another of those weird baseball trivia things; only one man has ever been elected MVP while leading the league in sacrifice bunts. The King of Smallball Phil Rizzutto. I hope there is always a place in baseball for the scrappy little player that can move a runner, slap out a big base hit, draw a walk, basically do whatever it took to help his team win. Rizzutto did all that with exceptional skill and also played great defense at that most important shortstop position. I never saw him play but always picture him having fun out there. I tried to capture some of his playful spirit in this painting, one of my favorites in my tribute to Cooperstown.
