The Poisonous Pair

The only brothers in the Hall of Fame, Paul and Lloyd Waner (aka Big and Little Poison) played together in the Pittsburgh Pirate's outfield for 13 years and racked up a combined 5,611 hits. An argument could be made that it was actually 5,612. Paul Waner hit a hard ground ball on June 17, 1942 that the shortstop got to but couldn't hold on to. The scorekeeper ruled it a base hit but Waner stood at first yelling, "No. No. No!" and the scorekeeper reluctantly reversed his decision. It would have been his 3,000th hit and he wanted it to be a clean hit which he got two days later. He remains the only known player in baseball history to reject a hit.
