Before he stepped to the plate in the 12th inning of what had already been a World Series classic Game 6 this is how baseball was covered on television: camera on the ball after the hit, watch it fly through the air. Fate stepped in on this magical baseball night and the camera man's attention was distracted by a rat in the Fenway bleachers. Rather than follow the flight of the hit that appeared to be going foul, he kept his camera focused on Carlton Fisk and the image of him jumping and waving the ball fair became instant sports history of the highest magnitude. From that day on cameras have stuck to the players and their reactions, and there hasn't been a better one since. A great player both defensively and offensively and one of my favorite paintings in my Hall of Fame collection.
