The High Kicking Dominican

I've always had a thing for funky windups and the most legendary of all was that of Juan Marichal and his classic high left foot kick. He was the dominant pitcher of the 1960's winning more games than any other pitcher. He ended his career with more than 100 more wins than losses and an ERA of 2.89. Marichal and fellow Hall of Famer Warren Spahn squared off in what is generally considered the greatest game ever pitched in 1963. They both threw complete games with Marichal's Giants winning 1-0 when Willie Mays hit a home run in the 16th inning. On a less pleasant note, he initiated a brutal brawl when he viciously smacked Dodger catcher John Roseboro twice with a bat after a toss back to the pitcher nicked his ear. With all that history and dynamic delivery he was such a fun guy to paint.
