One of baseball's first superstars and a complex man that played as big a part as anyone in making the early days of professional baseball successful, Cap Anson. He played 21 of his record 27 professional years as a member of what would become the Chicago Cubs. The statistics of the time are somewhat controversial as there was a short time when walks were credited as hits. Historians have scanned the records and scorecards and his career hit total is listed somewhere between 2,995 and 3,081.
