Slugger of the Dead Ball Era

Sam Crawford could bash the daylights out of a baseball. No one in his era, 1899 to 1917, hit the ball harder than him. This was during the dead ball era however, so his stats must be appreciated for the times they were accumulated in. He finished with 2,961 hits, 1,525 RBIs, and a MLB record 309 triples. He also hit a record 12 inside the park home runs in one year, a true sign of the times. When I look at this painting I think of a nice sunny baseball game being played by a great Hall of Famer.
