Without doubt one of the greatest hitters to ever wear the tools of ignorance. Mike Piazza had a career batting average .308, and had an amazing season in 1997 when he batted .362 with 40 home runs and 124 RBIs. A 12x All Star, he hit an all time record 396 home runs while playing as a catcher. His last game as a Met provided one of the great farewell ovations of all time. A place in Cooperstown was a fitting end to a career that started when he was drafted 1,390th overall as a favor to his father from Tom Lasorda. I used this painting to capture another of baseball's little side shows, the bubble gum blowing.
