More Valuable Than a Triple Crowner

Mickey Cochrane was one of the greatest catchers to ever play baseball. He was a rock behind the plate and perhaps even more valuable with a bat in his hands. His career batting average of .320 remains one of the highest ever by a catcher and his on base percentage of .419 is the highest all time for anyone wearing the tools of ignorance. He was a master tactician and and natural leader winning the 1934 MVP Award over Lou Gehrig, who had done nothing short of winning the triple crown.
