The game was different back when Jesse Burkett played in 1890. He hit 75 home runs in his career, only 20 of which left the ball park. The other 55 were the inside the park variety, a record that will likely stand through all time. Hitting over .400 twice is all the proof needed that this was one of the great hitters in baseball history. His nickname was "Crab", due to his cranky demeanor and I tried to capture that look in this painting.
