One of, if not the greatest seasons a professional pitcher ever had was Bill Foster's 1926 Negro League campaign. He won 23 games in a row and then came the last day of the season. His American Giants needed to sweep a double header to claim the title. All Bill Foster did was go out and pitch two complete game shutouts. Satchel Paige called him "the greatest pitcher of our time".
