Waite Hoyt was great from day one. Signed professionally as a 15 year old, how about this for his first year as a Yankee; he won 19 games and then threw three complete games in the World Series without giving up an earned run. Some have said my paintings take on a ghostly feel, and I take this as a complement. Old footage and newspaper pictures that recorded the early years of the game had that grainy feel. This painting in particular has that quality, fitting because when Hoyt wasn't playing baseball he worked as a funeral director.
